Vangarde Girl Nelle: What lead to you becoming a DJ?
DJ D-Wave: I was always a music lover with and i-tunes library of a DJ. While in Atlanta I had a booth where I sold mix-tapes, which led to me making mix-tapes for my customers. My customers imbedded the idea in my brain, I would always get people telling me to DJ because they were fans of my mix-tapes. My brother picked up on my talent and decided to get me some turntables. Too many people believed in me not to give it a try. From then on it's been history...
Vangarde Girl Nelle: When was your first gig? Were you nervous?
DJ D-Wave: First gig I landed was on Valentine's Day 2008 at a popular lounge in ATL called the M-bar. I was extremely nervous at first but after a few people started coming to the DJ booth giving me props I loosened up and got comfortable. By the end of the night I was being asked for business cards. Till this day I get a bit nervous at first but it doesn't stop me from doing what I have to do.
Vangarde Girl Nelle: What kind of music do you play? How would you describe your style?
DJ D-Wave: I play Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B. Reggae, Soca, Top 40, Old School and Neo Soul. I'm versatile I can appeal to any crowd playing the latest, greatest, and the classics while making it seem like one whole song was playing the entire night.
Vangarde Girl Nelle: Which DJ's have inspired you?
DJ D-Wave: Grand Master Falsh, Red Alert, Funk Master Flex, Green Lantern and Statik Selektah.
