Color Obsession: Orange

My relationship with orange has not been a stable one. One minute we're bff's the next we're like forget you ever knew me. There was a large span of time where orange and I were like oil and water, we just didn't mix. Yet in the last year and a half I've noticed myself eyeing orange accessories. In spring of 2009 I purchased a large Marc by Marc Jacobs orange soft leather hobo. So far this summer my two favorite accessories have been my small orange ostrich cross body bag and a corded necklace with the orange pendants.

Everyone has a set of colors which they are attracted to. There are even colors you just don't like and the sight of it makes you cringe. Our favorite colors are an expression of "who we are". At one point in our lives we may have liked to wear a particular color then out the blue (no pun intended) have a burning desire to introduce a new color into our wardrobe. Or maybe one day you woke up and decided I need to change the color of my walls. Colors we choose to continually adorn our bodies and decorate our personal spaces have a lot to offer us in the way of personal insight.

Every color has characteristics and moods linked to them. Meanings connected to each color can vary from culture to culture. Colors play a big role within the marketing and advertising world. Large clothing corporations have design departments dedicated to color. Color is used to seize our attention and stimulate emotion. Women are said to react based on "emotions" therefore color plays a major role in the design process. Whereas men are "logical creatures", clothing designed for men focus more on the details and fit then color.

WHAT MY ORANGE OBSESSION REVEALS ABOUT ME...

According to the color-wheel-pro.com; orange carries the characteristics of both red and yellow. It has the energy of red and the happiness of yellow. It is associated with joy, sunshine and the tropics. Everyone knows I LOVE the tropics. Residing on a Caribbean Island post retirement would be ideal. The characteristics of orange listed on the website which coincide with my current mood are fascination, enthusiasm, creativity and determination.
