Rain Rain Go Away, Evolution of The Jelly
I don't know about you but I absolutely despise walking around in damp shoes. I needed to run a few errands and we have been experiencing heavy down pours in NYC today. I own a pair of rain boots however it's July; I'm not a fan of sweaty feet and rain boots cramp my style. Skin dries off rather quickly so getting my feet wet is not an issue. Unfortunately my shoes don't dry up as quickly, especially in times of heavy rain fall. During my days of being a buying intern within a shoe department, a sales rep came in one day to present a line of shoes made out of plastic. As I walked home in soaked sandals the first thought that came to mind was I needed a pair of Melissa Shoes. Why you ask? Well let me explain...
Melissa shoes offers consumers a sustainable shoe made with their patent MELFLEX technology. The MELFLEX material is impermeable, which means no more having to deal with soggy shoes(insert smiley face here). Melissa Shoes is extremely environmentally conscious as they make all their shoes from recycled materials. Since these shoes are made of plastic they can be thrown into your recycling can when you have worn them out. Melissa shoes are durable, comfortable and stylish. The prices are also reasonable. The opening price point is around $40 for a thong sandal and $130 for a rain bootie. Melissa shoes run a half size big. If you're normally a size 8 order a 7 1/2. Melissa shoes has also partnered with designer Vivienne Westwood.
(Shoe pictured above is made out of their new Velvet MELFLEX material technology. It feels and looks just like velvet but it's plastic. I would wear this shoe rain or shine)
Melissa shoes began in Brazil and now has a brand presence in 66 countries. This company has a huge international business and following. Melissa shoes are just breaking into the United States market, so be on the look out. Melissa Shoes US site's online store is in the works however you can find the collection online at Tobi.com and MelissaAustralia.com.au. The Vivienne Westwood + Melissa shoe collection can be found at Zappos.com and the Melissa Shoes Australia site listed above. For more information on the brand you can visit MelissaPlasticDreams.com.
