Where you at?
BY VANGARDE GIRL P, MAY 9, 2011
"...I've been gone for a minute, now I'm back..." -Lil Kim
While I hate this grammatically incorrect phrase, I realize many have asked this of me. It's safe to say that this was my coldest winter ever, literally and figuratively, so I needed a little time to recoup. With new responsibilities at my dayjob and rough patch in my personal life I had to do my usual disappearing acts. Naturally, during this time I treated myself to a little retail therapy.
I always love to have signature accessories. This 3-D hollow heart (how symbolic) I found at Forever 21 for $4.95. Sometimes it's really the little things.
Summer Trend Report: "LWD" Little White Dress
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MAY 5, 2011
Swap that LBD with a LWD. A little white dress is tres chic during the summer months. Trend can be worn day or night, dressed up or down. During the day opt for simple tank, shirt and tee dresses to achieve an airy relaxed look. At night turn it up a notch, slip into bandeau, skin tight, eyelet or an embellished little white dress. Below are some little white dresses retailing from $15.00 to $50.00.
Printed Skippies...
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MAY 5, 2011
While awaiting on the beau's arrival (I was actually early o_O), I decided to kill time in Urban Outfitters. You know one of those "I'm only going to browse store visits". Of course I ended up making a purchase. I acquired these uber cute Ikat printed skippes for $20.00. Below are a few of the prints available.

Soon to be and presently Style-ista mommies, this stroller is a must have!!! The Bugaboo and Missoni collaboration collection will be available exclusively at Neiman Marcus in July. Prices range from $199-269. While we are on the stroller subject I'd like to send out a Vangarde Girl Nelle Public Service Announcement.
Dear Moms with strollers,
Please refrain from waiting at the stop light with your stroller on the street while you are safely standing on the side walk. Both mother and child in stroller should be on the side walk while waiting for the stop light to turn red. That is all.
Signed,
A Concerned Pedestrain

I am the first person to say I love affordable clothing and I am also the first to say I love the Rachel Rachel Roy line. I love the way her clothing feels and looks on you while looking very chic and not breaking the bank. And from watching these dancers in this video its given proof, how just about anyone can move freely around wearing Rachel Rachel Roy. If you didn't love her clothing even more check out this, "Move" directed by Dominique Palombo and choreographed by Jermaine Browne. Enjoy :)

Jessica Alba in Vogue Italia
BY VANGARDE GIRL MO, APRIL 8, 2011
I had to do a double take when I saw this spread of Jessica Alba in Vogue Italia April issue. With the fringe bob, and dark lips I didn't recognize it was her. She looks amazing and very mysteries. Kudos to Michelangelo Di Battista who photographed Alba and to Alice Gentilucci, who was the stylist. Loving the outfits from the Prada fur stole and Moschino dress, to Chanel and Dolce & Gabbana outfits.
If you can't get enough of Jessica Alba, check out the rest of her photos and you can visit, All about Alba.

VIDEO: Marc Jacobs S/S 2011
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, APRIL 7, 2011
Marc Jacobs took a unique turn with his Spring/Summer 2011 video lookbook. The collection was captured by Play Nice's, Kalvin Lazarte. The video features three models having a dandy time in the James Hotel, New York City wearing Marc Jacobs clothing and accessories. I'm assuming video pretty much paid for itself with the countless product placements such as America Express, Polaroid, Dior and CondƩ Nast. Soundtrack is Sleigh Bells "Ring Ring".

Video: Alice + Olivia Shoe Collection
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, APRIL 7, 2011
Alice + Olive have decided to launch their very own footwear line. The collection will be available on shopbop.com. Created by Alice + Olivia’s Stacey Bendet and indie director Bridget Palardy, the short film features two models in a surrealist fantasyworld of cake confections and standout styles from Alice + Olivia’s debut spring footwear collection set to “Never Forget You” by the Noisettes. “It captures the Alice + Olivia irreverent femininity immersed in an intensely sensory experience. The film is an inspired way to introduce their shoe collection,” says Shopbop Fashion Director Kate Ciepluch.
Framed: John Lennon
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MARCH 20, 2011
Look: 70's
Silhouette: Round
Notes: Round frames inspired by John Lennon is a key spring 2011 silhouette. Lady Gaga and Mary Kate Olsen have already been seen wearing this runway trend. Round frames were spotted at Prada, Armani , Proenza Schouler, Cacharel and Carolina Herrera.
This season they are being offered in a variety of solid and tortoise shells.
Who Should Wear Them: Round glasses look best on those with square and oval shaped faces.

Spring 2011 Shoe Trend: Flatforms
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MARCH 20, 2011
Silhouette: Flatform
Notes: A flatform is what you get when you take a flat shoe/sandal and turn it up a notch, or should I say a few inches. Flatforms are perfect during the day. You wouldn't catch me in a pair headed to the club or dinner. They're cute not sexy. Flatforms were spotted on Vena Cava, Prada and Derek Lam Runways to name a few. I'm predicting popularity within the 5'5" and under community.
How-To-Wear: Looks great paired with midi skirts, cropped and bell bottom pants. Stay away from skinny jeans unless you enjoy being compared to big foot. If you choose a mini skirt, I'd go with a flared mini over skin tight.

Spring Fling: Sleeveless Trench
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MARCH 20, 2011
Look: Safari/Military
Designer: Derek Lam
Season: Spring/Summer 2011
Notes: The dual purpose sleeveless trench is the perfect replacement for the shirt dress that we've all had enough of.
Well, at least I have.
How-To-Wear: Sleeveless trenches can be worn alone serving as a dress, pictured above. Also as a jacket if left unbuttoned paired with bottoms and a top. Look can be effortlessly transitioned from day to evening.
Accessorize: Wedge, chunky heel, flaform or a strappy sandal will work well with this look. Preferably pair with a large handbag. Keep jewelry to a minimum if worn as a dress, bracelets and earrings at most.

Video: Vogue Diaries ft. Rihanna
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MARCH 20, 2011
Behind the scenes footage of Rihanna during her shoot for Vogue's annual Shape Issue. Rihanna speaks on working with Vogue, her body and obsession with fashion.
Rhianna states "she loves to dress according to her body type". This is a concept a lot of girls and women have not grasped. Sadly, some will never grasp. Style is all about knowing what works for you. A particular silhouette may be in or trending however, this doesn't mean you're obligated to wear it. There are times in life we must stick to the rivers and lakes that we're used to. If everyone wore the same clothing day in and day out fashion would be drab. Our differences is what makes fashion fascinating.
Vangarde or Van-NOT? : New Coat On The Block
BY VANGARDE GIRL NELLE, MARCH 10, 2011
Cape hybrids graced the fall 2011 runways of pals, Joseph Altuzarra and Alexander Wang. Altuzarra fused the cape with a parka (right) while Wang chose the bomber (left). I'd prefer a hybrid of the hybrids; placing Altuzarra's collar and colorway on Wang's body. Leave it to me to complicate things. What's your take on the cape hybrids, Vangarde or Van-NOT?
